King Kamehameha, Frankfurt

Went to Frankfurt, Germany for the weekend and checked out some really cool stuff and learnt a few things...

1 - When 7 twentysomethings are tired, hungry and lost... and not one points out how obviously undesirable the situation is, it makes you want to do a big group hug.

2 - Your friends look the sweetest sleeping... with their mouths open. Hahahah...

3 - King Kamehameha rocks Frankfurt. It won World's Finest Club Award in 2004, and we were there!

4 - Weiners in Frankfurt are the same as weiners anywhere else in the world.

5 - Chicks make better monkeys than blokes. Point proven when Di kicked Lamb Lam (and that is his real name!) on the ropes!

Check this cool piece of work by the ladies room at the Museum Fur Moderne Kunst (Museum of Modern Art).

Marlena Shaw, Anthology

Today one of my mates gave me the coolest thing ever. A signed copy of the Marlena Shaw album, "Anthology". That is just so cool. Lance (the mate) and I went to see her perform live at Jazz Cafe when I first got to London in April 06. She is a jazz legend, having recorded under the Blue Note label and toured with the Count Basie band in the 60s-70s. She was the vocals on Blue Boy's "Remember Me", and also Nathan Haines' "Squire for Hire".

So I met up with Lance today after not seeing him in awhile... And he said he had something for me. And pulled out a blue and white cd case... Marlena Shaw, Anthology, and said he thought I'd appreciate it more than he would. How cool is he! Lance, you rock, thank you so much, I love it. :D

Arrested Development @ Fruitstock

Take me to another place, take me to another land, make me forget all that hurt me, let me understand your plan... If you have screamed this at some point around 1990, you'll know who I'm talking about! The legendary Arrested Development! Live at the Fruitstock Festival today!!!

Was absolutely blimmin' amazing... They opened with Dawn of the Dreads... And proceded to Give a Man a Fish... And funked out Mr. Wendal... People Everday... Tennessee.... Arrhhhh!!! Tenessee, uh-uh. Tenessee, uh-uh. Man, it was flippin' wicked!!! And hey, they do have the oldest guy in hip-hop on their camp. Ree-spect!

Guys, Dolls and Shisha

On Friday night we went to see Guys and Dolls at Piccadilly Theatre, starring Patrick Swayze! Ooh he does ham it up. Hahaha...

Guys and Dolls is great. Just what musicals should be. Crooning guys in suits, wicked dancers, breathtaking singers, and amazing actors. After the show we went to a shisha lounge where you smoke those turkish pipe thinga-ma-jigs. It was a great way to close the week... and start the weekend!

Madonna @ Wembley Arena

Managed to score some tickets to the Madonna Confessions Tour 2006 at Wembley Arena on Thursday evening, and man, was that an experience of a lifetime! Not only is she a 80s, 90s and 00s icon, but her show was amazing. Every step she took on stage just takes your breath away. She did Music with her dance entourage on rollerskates, and she wore a white suit ala John Travolta from Sat Night Fever. And she did strike that pose!

She also did Like a Virgin but in her disco thing she's morphed into of late. But freak, she does look fine in high-cut purple leotards!!! Makes you really wanna work out every morning and evening to look even half as good.

After the concert, they had heaps of vendors peddling illegal wares. T-shirts for 5 quid! Posters for 1 quid! I got a Confessions Tour 2006 one (I had to!) and also another one of her, which looked like it was from the late 80s, black and white, fully nude, hitch hiking, with a cigarette in her mouth. Dawn suggested I hang that on the door of my studio. On the outer side. Right.
