Danish Queens

Copenhagen, Denmark.

Fact: Danish pastries tastes better in Denmark.
Fiction: London is expensive. A latte in Copenhagen costs more than a latte in London. So does bottled water. And ciggs.

Fact: Danish drag queens in platform stilletos doing high kicks and splits put the SkyCity Cheerleaders to shame.
Fiction: I am no longer scared of drag queens.

Fact: Copenhagen's live hip hop acts swayed me from going to a jazz club.
Fiction: London is cold during winter. It is blimmin 10 degrees today! That's Celcius, you American.

Umbaba @ Soho, London

Happy Chinese New Year... Just got back from Leicester Square, by London's Chinatown, where they had Chinese New Year happs. Man, we couldn't even move. Too many peeps... The concept of personal space just doesn't seem to apply here. Doesn't help that I only got to bed at 8am this morning.

Was at Umbaba last night, a club in Soho, which was pretty awesome. Definitely check out Umbaba if you are in London.

Burlesque w Immodesty Blaize

Went to see Immodesty Blaize @ the Pigalle Club yesterday, the top burlesque act in town. Everyone was dressed vintage, it was like 1950s all over again. Never seen so much red lipstick in my life.

It snowed this morning; London did look innocent and virginal beneath a layer of snow.

Prague, Czech Replublic

Was in Prague for the weekend. Fly Easyjet and you can be in another city for the weekend pretty easy. Aren't we lucky.

Prague has funky metro stations. And friendly people. And good jazz clubs. The jazz club we went to, Reduta Jazz Club, is pretty neat. Bill Clinton jammed there when he was president. Apparently he is pretty good on the tenor sax. Now that's talent.
