Paper Club London

Was at Paper Club last night with GS peeps, and from the minute we got there, knew we would never come back here again. We wanted to check it out because if Paris Hliton and P Diddy hang here, it should at least be half decent. But half decent it was not.

Like most clubs in London (eg. Funky Buddha), Paper was full of pretentious pr*cks. Excuse my language mom.

The night wasn't all bad. Company was awesome of course. m&h was sweet as, and Dee walked on Regent St with shoes off. She likes leaving a shoe behind when she's out. Leaves a shoe in the cab and walks off without noticing. Hobbit wannabe!!!

Feijoas

I am so spoilt. Am sitting in my studio, slowly sipping Simply Squeezed Feijoa Juice, flown all they way from NZ (see two blogs prior). Feijoa juice. My absolute fave. You can't get them anywhere in London, not even at the NZ Shop in Cov Garden. At least with L&P you can pay 2.50 quid at Flat White and enjoy it during hot summer days. But feijoa juice... no... So bro, ka pai (Thank you)!

Which brings me to the next topic. My mate got me the best bday pressie ever. A Maori phrase book. Not just any Maori phrase book, it's the one with the Four Squares guy on it. (For the non-Kiwis reading this, Four Squares is a small, old skool supermarket chain in New Zealand). How wicked is that.

It's Fri. Can't wait for 18:00.

Abbey Road

Highlight of the weekend was that I was on Abbey Road, the road where the Beatles walked on on their album cover, aptly named "Abbey Road". "Abbey Road" was also the last album recorded by the Beatles, which is why it carries an even greater significance. At Abbey Road Studios, etchings of "All You Need Is Love", "Let It Be", "Peace" and "I (heart) Beatles Forever" sprawl the wall. Bring back the 60s.

My B-Day

The Kiwis are in town, just in time for my b-day do. And such gems they are. They brought with them the best kiwi lard in the world. (That's English for really really fattening food, usually sweets I think). The list...

1 - Cookie Time
2 - Squiggles
3 - Perky Nanas
4 - Pineapple Lumps
5 - Dairy Milk Cadbury (they are better in NZ I swear)
6 - Whittaker Peanut Slabs
7 - Toffee Pops
8 - Tim Tams
and the lucky number 9... the best thing of all... my favourite of ALL time... SIMPLY SQUEEZED FEIJOA JUICE!!!

For those who are not from Aotearoa (NZ), feijoa is a fruit, tastes like guava, but way better. And you can't get them anywhere, ANYWHERE in London. I was ecstatic. How cool are they... Thanks brossssssss...

This year was definitely the best b-day to date. The tall New Yorker rings me at 8pm on Friday, telling me he'll be at Heathrow tomorrow morning. Just in time for my b-day party. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I scream. I jump around. I hug everyone around me.

And so my b-day this year was the best ever. Having your best mates with you, partying till the sun literally came up, having great photographs to remind you exactly the state we got to by the end of the night/early morn.

Had so many thoughtful pressies. Mostly photography related of course. My mates knew exactly what I wanted/needed. Every single one. Every single one was so, so thoughtful. Yum cha. My favourite. Photography magazines from Australia and New Zealand (How awesome is that!!!). A photo printer, when I want that photo out on paper right now. A photo frame from my favourite store in London, MUJI. A basil plant so I can get fresh basil for home made pasta/sammies. A white desk lamp to go with my iBook (I was just looking for something like that. Read my mind. Again).

One of my mates said I was a difficult person to get a present for. But you know hey, cliche as it may sound, spending an afternoon with you would be the best present ever.

Insomnia

Can't sleep. Can't sleep. Can't sleep.

Had a glass of insomnia I did.
